One of my pieces, titled “Mirror of Desire,” illustrates the ephemeral moment of a saliva bubble captured between the lips of a disembodied mouth, slowing the action of the bubble (sixty times slower than real time). The delicate movement of the lips reveals the mouth as a portal of desire; a focus on the reflection present on the surface of the bubble reveals the mouth as a mirror of desire. With this image the disembodied mouth becomes an unknown, unfamiliar, uncontrollable organism.
